Are Geraniums Poisonous to Dogs?
Geraniums ARE poisonous to dogs.
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), geraniums are poisonous to dogs and cats.
Toxic Symptoms
If your dog or cat ingests parts of the geranium flower, it may experience vomiting, anorexia, depression, and/or dermatitis. The ASPCA recommends calling your veterinarian immediately.
Additional Plants to Avoid
If you have an inquisitive dog that likes to explore through taste, there are several flowering plants that you will want to avoid planting in your landscape that are far more toxic than geraniums. Symptoms for some toxic plants can even include death. Here are a few to avoid:
Autumn crocus, bleeding heart, foxglove, iris, larkspur, lily-of-the-valley, monkshood, and star-of-bethlehem.
