You can cook pasta in the microwave.
Pasta is deliciously tasty, especially when paired with delicious basil cream sauce or an oregano and tomato blend. Cooking pasta in a microwave generally takes the same amount of total cook time (including the resting stage) as cooking it on the stove. Once you perfect the microwave version it is often less messy. Microwave ovens make cooking pasta a simple task.
Cooking Pasta in the Microwave
What You Will Need:
- 2 quart microwave safe bowl
- Microwave safe plate
- 8 oz. pasta
- 2 cups water
- 1 Tbsp. oil
Set your microwave on high. Add water to the bowl and set on a plate in the center of the microwave. The plate makes clean up easier if the water boils over. Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Add the pasta and oil and microwave for another 4 minutes stopping half way through to stir. Allow to stand 4 minutes.
Depending on the wattage of your microwave, it could take more or less time to boil the pasta.
Ready to Eat
Once finished, check on a few pieces of pasta to see if it’s ready. If the pasta tastes too chewy, put it back into the microwave for another minute. If ready, pour pasta and water into a strainer, then wash it again with fresh water from the faucet. Most pasta has to be cleaned before being eaten. Once you’ve got the pasta cleaned, just add sauce and it’s ready to eat.
