How Long Must Hair Be to Wax?

Hair must be 1/4"-1/2" long to be waxed.

Hair must be long enough for the wax to adhere to in order for it to work effectively. The length of time between waxing will depend on how fast your hair grows, which can be at different rates in different areas of the body. For instance, the hair on the face can usually be waxed every two-six weeks, while the hair on the legs oftentimes can wait for up to six weeks.

When to Plan Your Waxing Trip

Don't plan your waxing procedure on the same day that you have an event especially on the face. Waxing will often cause redness and sometimes swelling. Plan your waxing visit at least two days prior.

Do have your waxing done at least two days prior or two days following a tanning session. Prior to tanning, waxing will increase your risk of sunburn in that area. Following tanning, waxing may cause skin irritation to the newly tanned areas of the skin.

Don't plan on having any waxing procedures during the span that you are undergoing cosmetic procedures such as skin peeling procedures. Talk to your doctor about a safe rest period between procedures.
