The economy is currently not at its best these days, however Americans still consider looking good as a necessity. Luckily, there are now less expensive procedures available for those who want to remove their birthmarks but are on a tight budget.
Laser Surgery Birthmark Removal
The total costs for laser treatment for birthmarks are estimated at four hundred to one thousand and five hundred dollars. Laser treatments in general are listed as one of the top six affordable treatments by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery or AAFPRS.
Additionally, the AAFPRS considers laser treatments as an effective non-invasive procedure that can remove blemishes such as birthmarks, as the laser energy can make the discolored skin fade and blend with the original skin color. Laser birthmark removal can require a number of treatments, estimated between eight to ten sessions, depending on the kind of birthmark involved as well as its size.
Although laser surgery is considered effective in removing birthmarks, some marks cannot be removed by lasers because of their size, such as hemangiomas, thus surgical incision must be resorted to. The costs for incision surgery for birthmark removal also start at four hundred dollars and can go higher depending on the size of the birthmark.
Moles are another type of skin discoloration that can either appear at birth or can develop over time, thus the former are considered birthmarks. Some moles are unsightly or are even cancerous, and therefore need to be removed. Mole removal involves surgical incision and can cost between one hundred and twenty-five to one hundred and fifty dollars.
