How to Prevent Wrinkles on the Forehead

You can prevent wrinkles on the forehead including their onset as well as their size and depth with an effective wrinkle prevention regimen following these guidelines.

Drink Plenty of Water

Staying hydrated is not only healthy for the body, its healthy for the skin.  Drinking water flushes out impurities and hydrates skin cells plumping them up for a youthful glow.  Don't try to stay hydrated with beverages like coffee and alcohol.  Both can work to dehydrate the body.  Alcohol can also increase the risk of leaks from the capillaries. Reduce Stress

It goes without saying that if stress causes you to furrow your brow and grimace these constant facial expressions will ultimately etch their way into the landscape of your face.  But several studies have suggested that the effect that stress has on your body may go deeper than that.  Stress releases a chemical called cortisol, which appears to produce muscle and collagen loss among other things.  Stress also causes glycation, which causes a decrease in circulation, increased malfunction of body tissue, and stiffening of the skin. Avoid Sun Damage

Avoiding sun damage is one of the most important factors in preventing skin wrinkles.  It is important to wear protective clothing if you are planning to be outdoors during peak sun hours, and to always wear a facial moisture containing sunscreen.   Wear sunglasses with UV protection to avoid the urge to squint, a habit that can cause eye and forehead wrinkles over time. Sleep on You Back

Gravity may be essential for the livelihood of the planet, but it does not do any favors for aging skin.  The effects of gravity on the skin begin to become evident on your face as jowls form, the nose and ears begin to droop, the eyelids drop slightly, and the skin sags and wrinkles.  Sleeping on your back can help to work against gravity.  Sleeping on your back always works to fight sleep lines that develop when you sleep with your face against the pillow for years on end.  As you age and your face becomes less elastic, these lines can become etched into your skin. Wash Gently

The sensitive skin on your face and forehead have many enemies including harsh soaps, hot temperatures, and aggressive tugging and pulling.  Harsh soaps as well as chlorinated water can strip the skin of moisture and necessary oils placing you at a higher risk for developing wrinkles.  Constant scrubbing and drying is not beneficial to aging skin that is slowly losing elasticity and the ability to immediately bounce back.
