Slideshow: Shaping Eyebrows
Correctly shaping eyebrows can frame your eyes and erase minor flaws such as wideset eyes. Manicured eyebrows add to a polished appearance.
Eyebrow shaping is a cosmetic art form, and you have several options to get the most attractive look to accent your eyes. Maintaining the shape of the eyebrows can be accomplished in a variety of ways, such as plucking, waxing, chemical hair removers, or by threading.

How to Shape the Perfect Eyebrow
Your ideal eyebrow shape starts above the edge of your inner eye over the tear duct, and ends at the outside corner, above your eyelashes. The highest point of the arch will be over the iris of your eye. Faces are rarely symmetrical, so hard and fast measurements won't work on both sides of your face.

You can shape your eyebrows by plucking. It's not painless but is effective. One hair at a time, you can shape your eyebrows gradually for a symmetric look. Invest in a good set of tweezers that can be found at most drugstores.

To pluck eyebrows, start by brushing your brows straight up. Snip any long stray hairs. Hold a pencil parallel to your nose. Pluck any strays that fall in the uni-brow area. Angle the pencil toward the outer edge of the eye to see where the outer edge of your brows should be.

A good first-timer tip is to draw your ideal brow shape with a white eyeliner pencil. Pluck any hairs outside the lines.

You can use a home wax kit to shape your eyebrows yourself. Unlike plucking or threading, waxing removes multiple hairs at one time, which isn't good if you're not quite sure how much hair to remove. Licensed professionals at salons have the skill to remove exactly the right amount of hair. Waxing can sometimes lead to skin irritation.

Chemical depilatories have been around for years and are easily found in most drugstores. They're inexpensive and convenient as hair removers. However, the chemicals are strong and are cautioned not to use around the eyes.

Hair threading is an ancient beauty treatment used to remove facial hair. The technique of threading originated in India and Asia, and it involves using fine cotton thread in a twisting motion. This effectively removes hair gently, without any chemical side-effects. It's best to have a professional thread your hair, because it's definitely an acquired skill.
