Weekly Cleaning Checklist
This Weekly Cleaning Checklist with amazing room-by-room tips will make your cleaning routine a snap:
Monday
This is the day for floor cleaning. Sweep, mop, vacuum. If floors need to be stripped or waxed, attach a paint roller to a long handle to apply the wax. Secure a basket or bin to catch shoes before they're worn into the house. Purchase multiple pairs of gender neutral slippers to be worn inside by all who enter. Guests will be happy to kick their shoes off and relax in the comfy slippers.
Tuesday
Dust everything! If you have a lot of dust (or a lot to dust), be sure you aren't spreading dust from room to room with a dirty cloth. The electrostatic dusting cloths are ideal, but expensive. Used dryer sheets will do the same thing, and cost a lot less!
Wednesday
Clean the bathrooms the easy way! Drop a denture cleansing tablet right in the toilet bowl. This is cheaper than the tank tablets, and works just as well. For the porcelain sink and glass shower doors, a cloth or paper towel soaked in pure strength white vinegar will do the trick. Use lemon oil to clean shower door tracks. Strategically place cotton balls sprayed with perfume to reduce odors.
Thursday
Laundry can seem like an unending battle. Reduce washing time by setting the washer for the shortest cycle, except with heavily soiled loads. Cut the dryer time in half by tossing a couple of tennis balls into the load. This will also fluff your clothes. You may find that you can save money on detergent by using half the amount indicated on the bottle/box. Regardless of the brand, you will almost always find that you can stretch the detergent without sacrificing the performance of the product.
Friday
The kitchen is easy when you wipe all appliances down first (inside and out). Run the dishwasher empty with Tang in one dispenser and dishwasher detergent in the other. Clean the microwave by cooking a half cup of water for two minutes. Caked on messes will wipe away easily. Use bubbling bathroom cleaners on the inside and outside refrigerator walls. Invest in an oven liner or insert a foil wrapped cookie sheet on the bottom shelf to decrease spill overs onto oven floor.
Saturday and Sunday are yours to enjoy, because after all, the house is clean!
