What Is A Fertility Bracelet?

A fertility bracelet is a bracelet worn to ensure fertility in women.

Ancient Fertility Bracelets

The use of fertility bracelets dates back to the ancient times. Such use is even chronicled in the Old Testament of the Bible. The jewelry worn by women in these ancient times did not only have decorative purposes but they were also used to invoke the fertility gods. The said bracelets that had depictions or charms depicting the fertility goddess Ashtarte or had triangular designs, depicting the female genitalia.

Certain tribal African societies also engage in the use of fertility bracelets, this time made from iron and copper, which to them symbolize fertility. Another African tribal tradition involves wearing bracelets made from elephant hair, as these are said to ensure fertility.

Fertility Gemstones and Crystals

Fertility bracelets can also be made from gemstones and crystals. These gemstones and crystals claim to have healing properties that make unfertile women fertile, or increase the fertility levels of women.

The theory behind wearing fertility bracelets made from crystals and gemstones is that such stones produce energy, and depending on the type of stone used, can affect the flow of such energy in the body and promote fertility.

The crystals and gemstones recommended for promoting fertility are the following: moss agate, amber, amethyst, aventurine, aquamarine, bloodstone, carnelian, celestine, chrysocolla, chrysoprase, citrine. fluorite, garnet, hematite, jade, lapis lazuli, malachite, moonstone, tourmaline green, tourmaline watermelon, turquoise, obsidian, opal, rose quartz, clear quartz, smoky quartz and tiger's eye.

These stones have various healing properties related to rebalancing female hormones and correcting problems related to the reproductive system and fertility. Thus it is possible that by wearing these stones in a bracelet, fertility can be improved.

Take chrysocollat for example, a healing crystal that is said to help women suffering from hormonal imbalances that lead to unintentional abortions.  Another healing stone is chrysoprase, which balances the hormones and is also used to increase fertility and correct bleeding disorders. Other popular stones used for fertility bracelets are rose quartz, moonstone, Mexican fire opal and rhodonit.
