What Is Transcendental Meditation?
Transcendental meditation is a simple relaxation process that consists of quietly sitting with the eyes closed for a period of time each day.
More Info: Meditation is generally considered the process by which the participant allows their mind to get past the outside forces and become more self aware. In many practices, meditation is treated as a ritual and can last hours. However, transcendental meditation is a simpler form of meditation compared to many others. It is a matter of taking twenty minutes a day to sit quietly, in a comfortable chair or on a mattress, and rest the mind. Transcendental meditation is taught over a course of seven phases and the participant will complete the process with a final follow-up course. In addition, transcendental meditation course fees include a lifetime ability to participate in the follow-up course at any time.
While transcendental meditation is not a religion or philosophy, it is based on the enlightenment process in India. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced this form of meditation as a way to allow the brain to relax and focus inward, rather than thinking about surroundings. In addition to relieving stress, this form of meditation centers on giving participants better focus, creativity and health benefits.
